According to Wikipedia the free dictionary, Self-discipline refers to the training that one gives one’s self to accomplish a certain task or to adopt a particular pattern of behavior, even though one would really rather be doing something else. For example, denying oneself of an extravagant pleasure in order to accomplish a more demanding charitable deed. Thus, self-discipline is the assertion of willpower over more base desires, and is usually understood to be a synonym of ‘self control’. Self-discipline is to some extent a substitute for motivation, when one uses reason to determine a best course of action that opposes one’s desires.

There are many qualities that you need to possess and develop in order to run/build a successful online business.  I am going to discuss with you self-discipline.  Self-discipline is one of the key qualities needed in running and building a successful business online.  Becoming an Online Marketer or Business owner/builder (being your own boss) it is easy to fall into bad habits like doing other things rather than working on your business.  It is important to develop self-discipline to keep yourself on tract.

You must be strict and discipline yourself to do certain tasks at certain times every day by creating a Plan of Action and reading that Plan of Action daily. Then take action daily by putting that action plan into effect.  Being successful as an online marketer/business builder (being your own boss) will depend on the quality, the amount, and the consistency of time, effort, and work you put into your online marketing/business building.

Understanding that as an online marketer/business builder, you will definitely need more self-discipline and more commitment than you ever have before. Do not allow yourself to get sidetracked with other outside interest during your work time just because you are not in the typical working environment. Not having self-discipline can have grave consequences for your online marketing/business building success.

I encourage you to plan your daily and weekly tasks, assign clear time slots to your marketing and business building.  Learn to discipline yourself to be persistent & consistent in following your daily time commitments and plans of action.

“Self-disciplined begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do. Simply, self-discipline enables you to think first and act afterward.” — Napoleon Hill

According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Marketing is the process by which companies determine what products or services may be of interest to customers, and the strategy to use in sales, communications and business development.  It is an integrated process through which companies create value for customers and build strong customer relationships in order to capture value from customers in return.

When I started my college education in business, it was to learn the management side of running a business.  As I got farther & farther along in my studies, each subject was hitting on tidbits of marketing.  I then became fascinated with the marketing aspects of the business & catered my degree to include this part of the business module as well.

I am a big fan of retail sales; I love it with a passion.  Because of my passion for retail sales, I then wanted to be in on determining what people’s interest may be for which product or service.  I also wanted to learn the strategies used in sales, how to communicate & build/develop a business.  I have a genuine love for people & a passion to help and work with others.  I like being able to give individuals value for their money.

Marketing gave me an avenue to help create value and build a strong relationship with my customers.  I then took that interest a little farther to try and incorporate it online in Internet/Network Marketing.  I knew I could apply the same principles, but the strategy would be a little different because the contact with people is pretty much virtual contact.

In conclusion, the reason I chose Marketing as my vessel of greatness is to be able to have a hand in determining the best products, services, or programs for individuals seeking to buy a product/service or to get involved in an online business.  I wanted to be able to give them a product, service, or program that would be of value to them while building a strong relationship with them as well.  I also wanted to be able to give them different avenues to take to learn the different strategies, techniques, resources and tools that would help to make them be successful business builders or just satisfied customers getting the most value product/service for their money.

Asset is anything you consider of personal value to you.  An asset is mostly associated with anything of monetary value.  But an asset can also apply to personal growth.  A personal asset or attribute about one’s self that allows them to stand out or to move forward in life.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1; KJV); From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, concept or thing.

What I consider to be my strongest asset is my faith.  The reason why I consider my faith my strongest asset is because in a world full of challenges and disappointments, my faith has kept me from giving up.

The internet and marketing world is very challenging, competitive and vast.   However, with my limited experience I was easy prey to the vultures that lay in wait for unlearned individuals like me.  I am very passionate about being a successful internet entrepreneur so when the wolves attacked, although wounded; I would not just let them take me out of the fight.

My faith in God and His promise to give me the desires of my heart, has kept me in this fight.  Understanding that the road to success contains obstacles along with the trials and errors of different strategies, techniques, programs and business knowledge, I continue to proceed on my journey to success.

I would have to say, after  three to four years of hard struggle and financial output (with little or no return), believing this person’s or that program team’s word that they  would help to get me there, I have finally found myself on the right road with the right people and the right team.  My faith has brought me a long way, disappointed at times, but not discouraged, let down but not broken, lied to, taken advantage of, you name it, all the reasons to give up, but I held on to my faith.

The Leaders Role, and how appropriate is the name, probably never knew the magnitude of the impact they would have on my life as well as others on this team and in this program.  When they chose the name, (The Leaders Role) they probably never thought of how fitting it would be to the people whose lives they would empower or the “role” they would actually be playing in those/our lives.

My unyielding faith in God and His promise helped me as I would have to go through some tests and knowing it would be up to me to continue to believe and trust in His word. That same faith has led me to the tools of success that I have been so diligently seeking (I truly believe this).  In just one month (30 days) my success ship has begun to roll in.  So yes, this is the reason why I think faith is my strongest asset.  I have begun to reap the rewards of being a faithful servant and trusting in God’s word.

The Fear of Disappointment

Fear is a feeling of disquiet or apprehension; an emotional response to a perceived threat. It is a basic survival mechanism occurring in response to a specific stimulus.

Disappointment is the feeling of dissatisfaction that follows the failure of expectations to manifest. An individual feeling disappointment focuses on the outcome itself; its causes, impact and the degree to which individual decisions are motivated by a desire to avoid it.

Disappointment is one of the primary emotions involved in decision-making. It is pretty common as human beings to have a pretty strong aversion to disappointment. But you can’t let the fear of being disappointed keep you from following your passion, your dreams or your goals.

Fear of disappointment is a common concern amongst many individuals in the world and in business, newcomers and seasoned marketers/business people alike. In fact, as an individual ventures into new territories or new business ventures over a long period of time, the fear of disappointment grows. This fear is a natural reaction for a person to experience while attempting to learn how to be successful. After all, who wants to disappoint the ones whose opinion and advice we’ve grown to not only accept and rely upon, but also whose opinion we now expect and respect. What if we don’t live up to the expectations or goals we have set for ourselves? What if we don’t get the job done as quickly or in the manner that had been expected of us? What if we set out goals too high to start and are unable to achieve them?

Nearly everybody experiences feelings of disappointment in their lives. It is a normal emotion. To have never experienced the feeling of disappointment is to lead a life of having no expectations of others, and very few people can do that. But some disappointments are small and inconsequential, and are quickly forgotten. Other disappointments are larger, and can impact our ability to have an ongoing relationship or friendship with people or succeed in business. It is these kinds of disappointments you should try to overcome.

How do you overcome the fear of disappointment so you can move forward in your business venture? Ultimately, you want a successful business, but have to focus on what needs to happen to get you there.

     (a) First, get clear idea about your business goals. Do you need to    study more educational and business resources? Do you need to create a more detailed business plan? Do you need to improve your business skills? Do you need to find a mentor?

      (b) Second, create a realistic plan for achieving those goals. After reading all the books and articles, you should have a good idea of what you need to do.

     (c) Third, take action on your plan. Start small if you have to, but do something to make progress.

I’ve also found it is helpful to work with a partner or in a group. It is a good way to get support, stay accountable and stay on track. It is important to not allow fear of disappointment to take us away from realizing our dreams or achieving our goals. So you must not get too attached to a particular outcome, but stay in tune with your enthusiasm and you will ultimately achieve your goal and overcome The Fear of Disappointment!

Failure Is Not an Option

According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Failure refers to the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success.

In Business, there are many reasons that people may fail.  I will briefly touch upon three of these reasons.  All are combatable, all are optional.

Do understand these are not scientific views…or case studies…these are all reasons in which I, in my years on the internet, attempting to become successful at one business or another, have opted for these reasons for failure.  They are common place among business individuals and not just unique to myself.  All are optional, but have been used as excuse after excuse.

FOCUS

We tend to lose our focus on why we decided to start a business in the first place.  In order to avoid failure in business, one need to remain focused.  Set goals & reach them.  Have a plan/business plan and follow it.  Stay focused to the end.  Don’t allow yourself to get side tracked by all the other “Next Big Thing” opportunities that are constantly popping up.  Be true to set your goals and stay focused on your mission. In the beginning stages your focus should be on matching the business opportunity with your skills, experience and passions. Other focal points include: deciding on a business ownership structure, finding professional advisors, and business planning.  Also focus on start-ups which will require establishing a customer base and market presence along with tracking and conserving cash flow.

COMMITMENT

Commitment requires a set of long and short term goals. When we set goals, we need to stay committed to those goals.  A lack of commitment is one of the major causes of failure in business today.  People today seem to lack any sense of real commitment and responsibility. Everyone wants to blame someone or something for their problems or adversity. There is a great benefit to sticking it out when life throws you curves. At times like these, you can become more creative and motivated, and can provide yourself with a tremendous opportunity for growth. Change in status in any business, career or relationship brings both the need and benefit of new thinking and acting. Quitting during these times can rob you of the joy of winning, the joy of learning and self satisfaction of knowing that you have succeeded.

LACK OF KNOWLEDGE

The lack of knowledge on creating, running and sustaining a business also results in business failure.  In some cases not knowing how to run your business and in others not getting the proper training on how to run your business.

There are many avenues and resources, coaching and training groups/teams that offer training, but fail to provide it properly.  Leaving the seeker frustrated & disappointed.

Understanding what you know and admitting what you don’t know is the first step in overcoming the lack of knowledge.  Everyone has something that they are knowledgeable about.  You have to look into your inner self to see what it is that you can contribute to your own business knowledge.  Take the time to seek out resources and utilize the ones that may have a little more knowledge in certain aspects of your business interest.

If we keep our FOCUS, stay COMMITTED, and seek the proper KNOWLEDGE, then failure is not an option.  Many people fail in business because they lose their Focus, their Commitment, & fail to seek out the appropriate level of Knowledge.

For me and my business ventures, Failure Is Not an Option.
